Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP)  Meeting

Everyone is welcome to attend the STAP Meeting. The event provides an opportunity to learn more and discuss some of the STAP papers for the Assembly, which include:

  • The science of integrated approaches
  • Environmental security
  • Circular economy and sustainable food
  • Circular economy and plastics
  • Novel entities
  • Innovation

 


Constituency Meetings

The meetings provide an opportunity to share information, views and obtain feedback from members of the constituency on issues related to the Council’s agenda and beyond. The meeting also aims to review country and constituency coordination issues, to enhance communication and outreach efforts, to decide upon constituency governance issues, such as the order in which countries will assume Council Member and Alternate seats (rotation agreements), participation in replenishment process and discuss implementation of the GEF projects and share lessons learned. Consultation

The consultation on the draft Guidelines to Implement the GEF Policy on Stakeholder Engagement will take place at the Furama Convention Center in Da Nang on Sunday, June 24, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm.  It is open to all persons registered for the Sixth GEF Assembly and associated meetings. CSOs Forum

This year the Forum's overarching theme is "Partnerships for Transformative Change: Civil Society’s Contribution to Transforming Systems to Safeguard the Future of Our Planet." The Civil Society Forum is a unique opportunity to highlight the crucial role that civil society plays in positively influencing the future of the global environment and contributing to the implementation of the Programming and Policy Directions of GEF-7. In addition to the Forum, there will be a range of activities during the Assembly where civil society and Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) will be actively engaged, including exhibitions, side events and visits to GEF projects in Viet Nam. Click here for more information.

GCF-GEF Informal Ministerial Dialogue on Coordinated Engagement

This event, held from 6:30 to 8:00PM in the Ariyana Convention Center (Ballroom 1B), will explore the concept of "coordinated engagement" and how it can be used in programming GCF and GEF resources to maximize synergies. Click here for more information.

June 27-28, 2018

Sixth GEF Assembly

Held every four years, the Assembly is the GEF’s highest governing body and gathers representatives of all its 183-member countries, implementing agencies, conventions, civil society organizations and indigenous peoples, academia, and business leaders to celebrate past achievements and the launch of its seventh replenishment cycle (GEF-7). The event is a rare chance to share knowledge, ideas and solutions to some of the world’s most  pressing environmental issues. Click here for more information.

Site Visits

Assembly participants will have the opportunity to join one of three visits to project sites. During these visits, participants will have a firsthand experience of GEF and GEF Small Grants Programme project impacts and results.
