Integrated Solar Combined Cycle Power Plant (formerly Solar Based Thermal Power Plant)
Project Summary
The project’s global environment objective is to demonstrate the economic feasibility of solar thermal based power generation worldwide by disseminating the corresponding experience with the aim of reducing project costs in the long-term. Furthermore, the it will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. The project involves the construction and operation of a solar/fossil fuel hybrid power station in the range of 150 MW capacity. The Independent Power Producer (IPP) will be secured through either a Build Own Operate and Transfer (BOOT) or Build Own Operate (BOO) scheme. The project includes the integration of a solar trough collector field producing a minimum energy output with a fossil-fired power generating element (gas turbine, or boiler/steam generating unit, or combined cycle), fueled by natural gas.
