Bioenergy for Sustainable Rural Development
Project Summary
The primary objective of the proposed project is to advance the use of renewable biomass as an energy resource, for the purpose of promoting sustainable rural development in Egypt and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions resulting from conventional energy resources. The biomass options that will be advanced under this project include: Anaerobic biomass digestors for dung, household sewage, and related high-moisture feedstocks; anaerobic biomass digestors for leafy feedstocks including agricultural residues, biomass densification (briquetting, pelletization) for rural enterprise and household applications; eficient biomass stoves, furnaces and dryers for rural enterprise, and household applications; and biomass gasification for production of fuel gas for process heat, shaft power, pumping and electricity.
