Initial Assistance to the Philippines to Meet its Obligations Under the Stockholm Convention on POPs
Project Summary
The Philippines is one of the early signatories to the “Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs).The objective of the project is to create sustainable capacity and ownership in the Philippines to meet their obligations under the Stockholm Convention, including initial preparation of a POPs National Implementation Plan, and broader issues of chemicals safety and management as articulated in Chapter 19 of Agenda 21. The Implementation Plan describes how the Philippines will meet its obligations under the Convention to phase-out POPs sources and remediate POPs contaminated sites in the country.
