Community-based Integrated Natural Resources Management Project in Okyeman
Project Summary
The objective of the proposed project is to enhance biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of renewable natural resources in Okyeman through community-based integrated natural resource management approaches.The GEF alternative would expand the baseline activities to cover the following major areas – (a) improving the management of forest and wildlife resources by strengthening local community capacity; (b) inventory of renewable natural resources especially forest and species of economic importance to the local community, (c) local policy and regulatory reforms; (d) environmental awareness programs; and (e) Provision of alternative livelihood to local communities who economic well being will be affected by proposed conservation efforts. (f) Develop monitoring and evaluation indicator to guide the implementation of the above project activities.
