GEF in Viet Nam

Viet Nam has been a participant country since 1994. Since then the GEF has been involved in 103 projects providing $ 480.55 million dollars in GEF grants and up to $ 4.87 billion dollars in additional co-financing. Among the 103 projects, 56 are national and 47 regional and/or global. Viet Nam is a member of a constituency comprised of Cambodia, Korea DPR, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam.

Over the next four years, the GEF will focus its operations to help tackle the underlying drivers of environmental degradation and catalyze systems change.

To enable the GEF partnership to deliver on these strategic goals, the GEF has been modernizing its systems, updating its policies, streamlining approaches to monitor progress and measure impact, enhancing knowledge sharing and learning activities.

In a series of side events at the Sixth GEF Assembly, the Secretariat will present some of the GEF’s new features that will help deliver the GEF-7 programming strategy, enhance transparency and openness, and achieve greater results. The events will also help the audience understand how to successfully implement some of the new GEF-7 policies and methodologies.
